According to the German news portal t-online., Hans-Peter Kemser, who previously held a similar position at the plant of BMW in Leipzig, will be the plant manager at the BMW plant in Debrecen. The 56-year-old specialist will take control of the construction site next month.

It is not known punctually when the plant in Debrecen will be operating, but the company plans to produce a new type of electric car class in Debrecen from 2025 onwards. The construction of office buildings and education centers will also begin early next year. The factory will have a thousand employees who will produce 150,000 cars a year. The new Leipzig plant manager will be Petra Peterhänsel, who currently manages the press shop, body shop, and polishing shop at the Dingolfing plant (which is the largest one in Europe).

A few days ago, there was breaking news about the investment in Debrecen: after the city withdrew the tender for the northern access road to the factory site, it was published again in the European public procurement journal. The new deadline is the 28th of December, and the winner will have to build a heavy-duty, 1.1-kilometer-long 2×2-lane road, a less-loadable 921-meter-long road, and a 444-meter-long bicycle track.

In August, the government provided an additional 9 billion 864 million forints for the total investment. Before that, 44 billion 115 million forints were given in November 2018.

BMW has already opened 15 vacancies on its official career site for the Debrecen plant, which are available HERE.
