There will be two English-language book events on the 28th of March in Debrecen.

Short Story Day at the American Corner Debrecen

Time: 4:30 pm on the 28th of March 2024

Venue: American Corner Debrecen (Bem Square 19/D)

During this workshop, we will delve into the world of short stories and think about what makes them so captivating and enduringly popular.

We will look at a few examples of stories that are so short they belong to the category called flash, micro, or sudden fiction – or you can just call them “short shorts.”

You will also receive plenty of suggestions of American short story writers that you can add to your reading list.

The workshop will be led by literary historian Dr. Zsuzsanna Lénárt-Muszka (Institute of English and American Studies, University of Debrecen).

IEAS Book Salon: Other Bodies

Time: 6 pm on the 28th of March 2024

Venue: Room 121 of the Main Building in the University of Debrecen (Egyetem Square 1)

Do you enjoy books and reading, friendly conversations, and a laid-back environment? Then IEAS Book Salon is the place for you!

The Institute of English and American Studies (IEAS) offers a place where university and secondary school students can gather monthly to talk about book-related topics.

It’s a book club you don’t have to prepare for.

March is about disability in literature: narratives about bodies and identities that break the norm.

TL; DR: IEAS Book Salon is a book club with friendly discussion and snacks.
