Faith Idahosa is only 20 years old, but she already has her very first song out and it’s really promising. A month ago I made an interview with Vanucci, another Nigerian singer-songwriter studying in Debrecen and he already mentioned Faith as he co-wrote and produced her song. The joint work went well and now you all can enjoy its first fruit, Arizona.
Faith was born in Nigeria, she’s the only girl of a set of triplets. She lived in her home country until she moved to Debrecen to study medicine. She always had the passion for music, but not everyone around her thought she would release a song someday:
„I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been in church choir and I was the head of my high school choir. At some point growing up, my parents noticed my passion for music and got me a lot of recording equipment to start making music but I think they saw it as just a hobby and not something I would truly pursue like 10 years later.”
Singing is one thing, but making music is another one. Last year she began that journey in her bedroom. She had always been a writer so to say, but when it came to writing a song, Faith didn’t know how to convey her feelings in an actual song. She didn’t know what to write about. So she started making music after she got her heart broken:
„I was exposed to so many emotions that I had no choice, but to write about it and in the process, those writings gave me a pedestal to a lot of songs I’ve written that I can’t wait to share. But I’m still learning and that really keeps me going.”

Faith (or should I write Fayth) is inspired by the stories and emotions that are conveyed through music. She has a brilliant and so simple thought about music: it’s the most beautiful form of self expression which she didn’t truly understand until she started taking songwriting seriously.
She doesn’t keep it a secret that she always loved pop music, it has always been her favorite genre. So it’s not a shocker that she’s diving fully into that type of music with her own work. But listening to pop and inquiring into pop music is not the same thing:
„When I decided to take music seriously, I didn’t only listen to music for fun anymore, i started studying writing patterns and melodies and truly how to tell a vivid story, like painting a picture.”
And this picture became Arizona, her very first single. Listen to it here:
This amazing piece of music was brought to life by Fayth and Vanucci. They started working together last year after he heard her feature on another song. Working with him at first was kind of nerve racking for Faith, because she saw someone who was so devoted to his craft and it was truly admirable.
„He pushed me to keep writing, so I’d get better. So anytime I’d write something remotely good (even when it was horrible), I’d send it to him and he’d just encourage me and tell what I could do to make it better. Sometimes you just need someone who believes in you more than you believe in yourself and for me that was Vanucci.”
I had online conversations with Faith in the last few days and in one e-mail I wrote to her that I thought Arizona is a very honest song. And I got a really simple, but very great reply:
„Honesty is my intention with my music!”
Now go ahead and listen to her song on various streaming platforms HERE (Spotify, Tidal and Apple Music). And if you like the song, don’t forget to follow her on Instagram and Twitter.
