The Campus Festival in Debrecen will have a lot of international performers, and this year’s offer is colorful with unusual program elements.
Among this year’s international performers, only the Belgian DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike was known, but now we can reveal more names from the 2024 line-up, which will perhaps be more colorful than any year in terms of international performers. The American Gayle, who celebrated her 20th birthday last summer, brought together one of the biggest hits of 2021 with her song ABCDEFU. She will be seen and heard on the opening day, on the main stage.
The French Martin Solveig is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his career this year, and he is preparing for his first performance in Eastern Hungary on the second day of the Campus, also on the main stage. He will take the stage before the Hungarian artist Azahriah.
The Swedish band Mando Diao, which was founded 25 years ago and plays alternative rock music, is also preparing for its first concert in Debrecen. The formation will perform on the second main stage on Thursday. They won’t be the only Scandinavian guests this year because one of the best-known Finnish DJs and music producers, Darude, whose mega-hit Sandstrom has become a dance anthem for an entire generation, will arrive. He will make the audience dance on Saturday night at the Beat Stage.
The name Queen Omega may be familiar to many, as the voice of the Trinidadian reggae-dancehall singer can be heard in Azariah’s song Four Moods II. Her performance, which is considered a specialty, can be seen on Thursday in the Water Tower Garden. Maybe the two artists will do a joint production in Debrecen.
Danko Jones, a band from Canada, will come to the Great Forest, whose hard rock records are also influenced by punk and blues attitudes. It says a lot about them that Motörhead frontman Lemmy also sang in one of their hits. They are famous for their energetic concerts, and you won’t be bored during their concert at the Rock Arena either.
As is typical for the organizers, there will be a few curiosities that will make the four days extraordinary:
In a unique way in Hungary, the rap/hip-hop and rock/metal genres will also get their own stage this year.
This year, the University of Debrecen jointly organizes the European Universities Games with the University of Miskolc, and the final event will be held on the opening day of the Campus Festival in the festival area. It adds color to this year’s festival with elements never seen before. What is more, the point limits for higher education will become public on the 24th of July, so the Campus Festival will also be the central location of the national Pont Ott Party this year.
In addition to Azariah’s only summer performance in Eastern Hungary, Amorf Ördögök, returning after many years of hiatus, will also give their first festival concert in Debrecen.
Thy Catafalque, which has achieved international success in the avant-garde metal genre, is preparing for its only summer concert in Hungary at the Great Forest. Tankcsapda is celebrating its 35th anniversary: it will treat its fans with three different programs on three different days at three different locations.
The Zenevonat with the stars of LGT, R-Go or Republic will offer great entertainment for older concert lovers.
