135 rooms await guests on four floors.

The new hotel of the Accor group, Mercure on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street in Debrecen, officially opened on the first day of Debrecen’s biggest event, the week of the Flower Carnival.

The primarily business hotel awaits its guests with 135 rooms on four floors. There are 20 apartments too. The Winestone restaurant and bar offer local cuisines with a cafe and a fitness room. Business travelers can use three conference and meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 120 people simultaneously.

The general theme of the hotel – in consonance with the opening date – is the famous Flower Carnival of Debrecen. So, guests will have the best carnival experience from check-in to check-out. The designer of the building is the BORD Építész Stúdió, while the project company of the Szinorg group, Bajycsy Invest Ltd., was responsible for the construction.

There is a market need for hotels in Debrecen that meet the needs of sophisticated tourists and business travelers. Our elegantly designed hotel is in a perfect location, on a quiet and calm street in the city center. The hotel contributes to the expansion of Debrecen’s catering and hotel offerings, both in terms of the number of rooms and high-quality services.

said Gábor Demény, director of Mercure Debrecen.

According to the press release of the Accor Group, the city has significant business potential as the most important economic center in eastern Hungary. Several multinational companies operate in the city (and will in the future if the BMW and CATL factories are built – the editor). Debrecen airport is also the reason for the foundation of the hotel, which is the second most notable international airport in Hungary. Its traffic has increased nearly four times in the last five years. The number of registered passengers in 2019 exceeded 600,000 heads.

The city is also a popular leisure destination and a prestigious educational and cultural center. In recent years, Debrecen has hosted many large-scale regional, national, and international sports, cultural and business events.
