This will be the fourth Debrecen Drive, which awaits you at the usual location, around (and in) the Nagyerdei Stadium, from the 24th to the 26th of May 2024. The organizers held a press conference, where many important details were revealed on the 16th of May 2024.
Péter Miklósvölgyi, the managing director of the Debrecen Campus Nonprofit Közhasznú Kft., said that this year again, all major brands will be out at the event with their current showroom cars, and such an opportunity only happens once a year and only here in Debrecen. One of the interesting innovations of the fourth Debrecen Drive is that those present will be able to admire nearly 200 small pedal cars, among which there is also a HUF five million Jaguar. He emphasized that the ticket price is valid for all indoor programs, even for the VR room and Crazy Sprint, you don’t have to pay extra. The Debrecen Drive’s family-friendliness is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that both food and drink can be brought into the event area, but families can also bring blankets. In the case of drinks, they must be in unopened bottles.
In his speech, the mayor of Debrecen, László Papp, explained that this relatively new event could appeal to car enthusiasts from the entire country, as evidenced by the fact that Debrecen Drive attracted nearly 35,000 visitors last year. He called it one of the city’s most important events, connected to Debrecen by a thousand threads, as the city’s vehicle industry became a major power in the second half of the decade. And Drive can show this vision.
Zoltán Bács, the chancellor of the University of Debrecen, said appreciatively that the uniqueness of Debrecen Drive also means that a “know-how” has been created, i.e. a knowledge that is only available here, and many cities are interested in this, who also want a similar event for themselves. He added that Drive offers not only experience but also professionalism, as there will also be a serious vehicle industry conference on Friday, on day zero, about e-mobility. The organization of the conference takes place within university circles. The main organizer is Prof. Dr. Krisztina Dajnoki, a teacher at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Debrecen.
Péter Szabó, the managing director of Schaeffler, highlighted the mini-drive event but added that as one of the main sponsors, they are preparing many things that can only be seen and experienced at Debrecen Drive.

Csaba Szántó, the logistics technology director of Trans-Sped (the company is the other main sponsor), said that Trans-Sped started in Debrecen and that they are preparing many exciting programs at this year’s event, including a 480-horsepower DAF train, but there will also be a craft activity that can be tried on a truck and a forklift competition.
Zsófia Máthé, head of sales and marketing at Metal-Sheet, highlighted the Night Drive program element. The titular sponsor of the Night Drive, which will be held on the 24th of May, is Metal-Sheet, also known as the main sponsor of the Campus Festival. In addition to this, he added that they are also preparing for the fourth car celebration with a dance show and a Rolls Royce car.
László Páll, the other managing director of Debrecen Campus Nonprofit Közhasznú Kft., also spoke about the holiday: this is the holiday of the vehicle industry, but we can also celebrate the Nagyerdei Stadium this year because the grandiose complex was handed over ten years ago. For the pleasure of this, for the first time this year, there will also be a program element on the east side of the stadium.

The press event also included car soccer, during which those present had to “kick” a goal with the help of an electric car in the northern event area of the stadium. All the speakers at the press conference successfully completed the task.

You can find more details on the Debrecen Drive website about the professional conference, individual program elements, star performers, and concerts.
