The restrictions will remain until the 15th of March. Here is the third wave. The prime minister has been inoculated. All about the epidemic situation.
Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced on Thursday:
The government maintains the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus epidemic unchanged until the 15th of March.
He added: the opinion of the experts is obvious the third wave of the epidemic is already in Hungary, which may cause the numbers related to the virus to deteriorate dramatically in the next one or two weeks. He thinks we face tough two weeks.
He also revealed that in addition to the British virus variant, other mutations appeared in Hungary, which show a faster spread than the previously dominant virus strain.
Mr. Gulyás said that they currently do not see more than two weeks. Whether there will be any degree of opening after the 15th of March, it will be revealed in two weeks.

In Hungary, the coronavirus epidemic has entered an intense phase again, so the protection of the population must be established as soon as possible with the help of vaccines
Cecília Müller, chief medical officer, told MTI on Saturday.
According to the chief medical officer, all the data show a very intense spread of the coronavirus epidemic, with a significant increase in the number of infected and dead. This third wave is caused by new, more infectious virus variations. According to Mrs. Müller, “we are no longer weaponless”. There are five types of vaccines available in Hungary.
These are the following:
- Pfizer-BioNtech
- Moderna
- AstraZeneca
- Szputynik
- Sinopharm
Vaccination of health care workers and nursing homes is complete.

Viktor Orbán received the vaccination against the coronavirus. The Prime Minister of Hungary was vaccinated with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine at the vaccination point of the Military Hospital State Health Centre.
Chief Medical Officer Cecília Müller specifically recommended vaccination to Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, setting an example for the population, thus encouraging as many people as possible to use the vaccination. She also considers it significant to vaccinate other members of the government and members of the operative board, as this could result in fewer casualties in the third wave.
On Friday, President János Áder also received the Sinopharm vaccine, and in a statement, he asked all Hungarian citizens to register for the vaccination as soon as possible.
