This year the Flower Carnival in Debrecen lasts from the 15th to the 20th of August. Here is the list of the programs with places, times, and ticket prices.
Every day:
from 8 am to 10 pm
University of Debrecen (University Square 1)
- Hungarian Landscape – University of Debrecen Flower City: presenting the diversity and main characteristics of Hungarian garden culture. In addition to the gardens, the statues opposite the fountain building will also be decorated with flowers. The display can be viewed between August 18 and 22 in front of the main building of the University of Debrecen.

- TheVR carnival: Hungarian morning show live

Kölcsey Center (Hunyadi Street 1-3)
- Playmobil exhibition: Playmobil is more than 50 years old (selfie points, giant Playmobil figures, and playhouse) Ticket: 1000 HUF, under the age of 3: free

- Community flower cart decoration: Join the Debrecen Flower Carnival community experience and let’s decorate Debrecen’s first community flower cart together!

Nagyerdei park: Beer by Lake Stage
- DJ Emperor: The Nigerian international DJ living in Budapest burst onto the scene in 2015 while studying at the University of Debrecen.

- Carnival week in the Small Church:
9 am – Continuous tower tours
10 am – Screening of an animated film about the history of the Small Church and the Ispotályi Church.
11 am – Secrets of the Truncated Church – a walk through church history with local historian Máté Horog.
12 pm – Fiori musicali – Musical Flowers: Lunchtime organ concert in the Small Church.
3 pm – Screening of an animated film about the history of the Small Church and the Ispotályi Church.
4 pm – Alföldi „Witty” City Tour – Flower Carnival Special Edition: During the approximately 1.5-hour walk in the Small Church, city walkers can learn various interesting facts about the city and its inhabitants in Hungarian. Tour guide: Máté Horog, local history researcher, City-Legends.Com
6 pm –Musical Flowers: Early evening organ concert in the Small Church. Featuring: Gergő Csorba organist
7–11 pm – Nighttime Tower Tours – departing hourly with guided tours

Old Town Hall Courtyard (Piac Street 20)
- Galiba Children’s Festival: Between the 16th and 19th of August the Old Town Hall Courtyard will be transformed into a fairy tale:
4 – 5 pm Dalma Tenki: The Hysterical Princess – a performance in Hungarian based on folk tale traditions but aimed at today’s children.
4 – 8 pm Craft workshops
5 pm – 8 pm Parade in the city center from Dósa Nádor Square to the Memorial Garden: The colorful carnival parade of carts decorated by children starts at 5 pm and arrives at the Memorial Garden at 6:30 pm. Closing children’s concert: 7 pm Kiskalász band. Participation is free of charge.

Distance: 2.6 km, which runners have 30 minutes to complete.
Age limit: none, but children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Clothing: white T-shirt, sporty, comfortable clothing
Participation is free of charge, there is no entry fee.
Registration:
Advance online registration until 10:00 am on the 19th of August using the online registration form.
On-site registration at the starting point (Baltazár Dezső Square) between 6:45 am and 7:30 am on the 20th of August.

8 am – 10 am – Watching the Carnival Parade from the tower of the Small Church: In case of inclement weather, please bring warm and waterproof clothing, as the top floor of the Small Church tower is uncovered and we can only provide a limited number of seats. Covered seating is available in the Fire Watch Room below the tower observation deck.

- 8 am and pm: Carnival parade from 40 meters high: Advance ticket sales at the ticket office of the Great Church. Guests are also invited to a wine tasting at the Great Church.
2 pm Extraordinary guided tour with architect Zoltán Rácz at the Kálvin Gallery.
2:30 pm Exclusive film screening, in which Zoltán Rácz talks to Anna Ráckevei about architecture in Hungarian.
3:30 pm Film screening – Downtown wonders in Debrecen, or what makes Debrecen happy according to the architect and the actor?

Nagyerdei Stadium
- Flower Cart Parade and Old Timer Exhibition: Debrecen’s famous flower carts will return not only as part of the parade, but also as an extraordinary outdoor exhibition. In addition to the flower carts, cars, classic motorcycles, and bicycles will evoke a nostalgic atmosphere. The mood will be further enhanced by music and dance performances.
