Can’t travel the world? How about walking around the marvelous, beautiful Main Building of the University of Debrecen, trying the best cuisines from around the world (Israeli, Chinese, Mexican, Palestinian, Iraqi, Indian, Moroccan, Filipino, Ghanaian, Pakistani), and witnessing the best open-air party in Debrecen!

International Food Day has been a gastronomy festival for international students at the University of Debrecen from more than 10 years.

The biggest international event of the year will be hosted in front of the Main Building (Egyetem Tér 1) by the International Student Union (ISU). ISU is the part of the Student Government incorporating international students studying in Debrecen.

The International Food Day will be on the 14th week of the academic calendar, at 2 pm on the 13th of May 2022.

The event is open to everyone, and you do not need a ticket to enter. However, if you would like to try the food from different countries, you must buy food tickets.

ISU incentivize you to come dressed in your typical cultural attire and celebrate the beautiful diversity of the community.

The aim of the event (besides having fun) is charity. The two main goals are for you to travel the world through delicious dishes and amazing cultural experiences and a traditional donation to the Children with Leukemia foundation, which signifies an important message of hope for those in need!

The day doesn’t finish when the food ends. Food Day is a festival. Music will be live. Student bands will be performing throughout the day and after the main event is over, the Food Day After-Party starts. Music connects everyone, everywhere and because of that, the Food Day after-party will have DJs playing music from across the globe. No boring stuff, only the hits from every continent. Make sure to sleep double the time on the 12th because the night of the 13th will be one to be remembered!
