The Center for Modern and Contemporary Art (MODEM) invites you to an evening with Alicja Wysocka, the current guest of the newly launched MODEM AIR artist residency, at 6 pm on the 22nd of July at 6 Móricz Zsigmond körút, Debrecen.
During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Alicja and learn about her interdisciplinary practice, which involves creating performance and choreographing situations that examine alternative economic models, the commons, and collaborative, community-based forms of coexistence. Alicja will also share insights into her recent projects developed, highlighting her cross-disciplinary approach and her work with time-based media and installations.
ALICJA WYSOCKA (PL) is an interdisciplinary artist living and working internationally. Her practice imagines new frameworks for collective living and shared prosperity, often challenging dominant social and economic structures. Through performances and installations, Alicja creates collective, therapeutic experiences that invite reflection on collaboration and coexistence. She studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste – Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, under Haegue Yang.
Her work has been shown at venues including Triennale Milano (2025), Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt (2025), Kunstverein Wiesbaden (2021), Venice Biennale of Architecture (2021), and the Museum of Modern Art, Warsaw (2020). She has participated in residencies such as Jan van Eyck Academie (2022–23), National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul (2023), and Akademie Schloss Solitude (2020).
This residency is supported by Municipality of Debrecen and Skamander, a program funded by the Wacław Felczak Foundation that promotes cultural collaboration between Hungary and Poland.
