The world-famous British rock musician, Mike Oldfield released his classic album, Tubular Bells, 50 years ago, which will also be presented in Debrecen on the anniversary tour in February 2024.
The masterpiece and Mike Oldfield’s most popular compositions will be performed by a group of nine musicians at 8 pm on the 25th of February 2024 at the Főnix Arena in Debrecen.

Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells – Live in Concert is a two-part evening where Oldfield takes on the duties of musical director, orchestrator, and producer. The conductor of the performance will be his close creative partner, Robin Smith. Péter Müller Sziámi AndFriends will host the concert as a guest.
The first part of Tubular Bells was recorded in November 1972, and the second in the spring of 1973. On the recordings, Oldfield played about 20 instruments, and only a few musicians helped him. Tubular Bells was published as Virgin’s first release in 1973. The album became popular when his music was used in the horror movie The Exorcist. Tubular Bells topped the charts, Oldfield won a Grammy, and Virgin signed him for six more albums. On the 50th anniversary of Tubular Bells this spring, the material was modernized.
Mike Oldfield has so far released 26 records. In 2007, his autobiography, Changeling, was published, in which he confesses about his family, alcohol and drug problems. He was married four times, had seven children, and has been living in the Bahamas since 2009.
