With the cooperation of experts from the University of Debrecen (UD), the international Pattern project, which has lasted for more than four years, promotes the development of research competencies, which will offer researchers training materials containing the methodologies and aids necessary to carry out high-quality scientific activities.
The University of Debrecen and the University of Debrecen University and National Library joined the Pattern (Piloting open and responsible Activities and Trainings Towards the Enhancement of Researchers Networks) program. Experts from the UD take part in testing of the continuously prepared training modules.
As the first step of the work process, the educational materials produced by the international consortium of higher education institutions, IT companies, and research networks participating in the program are organized so that the final material supports the scientific work of university students and postdoctoral researchers. The managers responsible for the research are also involved in the testing

The testing will last in two periods, for a total of two years, and an evaluation will be prepared after each test period. According to the plans, the experiences gathered in the training material will primarily be used by students and researchers of the University of Debrecen.
The Pattern project provides the opportunity for students and academic professionals to have the most significant competencies that meet the research needs of the modern age. During the testing period, we work on the teaching materials based on the feedback and ideas of our students and researchers, which can later be used more widely by other higher education institutions
said Judit Fazekas-Paragh, head of the Education and Research Support Department of the University and National Library of the University of Debrecen.
The training of the program aims to provide the scientific community with higher-quality professional preparation for research activities than they have now so that higher-quality research will be published. Among others, the training can strengthen open access, research data management, community science, research integrity, gender neutrality and non-discrimination in science, and scientific communication, as well as promote the development of management and leadership skills in Hungarian higher education.
