Premier League title race: Which team could possibly make a breakthrough?

The draw between Liverpool and Arsenal last Sunday made the Premier League title race even more dramatic. Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City are three teams emulate fiercely to win this season’s championship.

1. Arsenal (71 points)

Last season, Arsenal lost the Premier League title to Manchester City when they played inconsistently at the end of the season. „The Gunners” certainly crave „revenge” this season.

After 31 matches, Arsenal has 71 points, temporarily leading the Premier League rankings. However, Liverpool – the team ranked behind them – also got 71 points. Mikel Arteta’s team is ranked only above Liverpool on goal difference.

The gap between Arsenal and the 3rd ranked team – Man City is only 1 point. „The Citizens” has 70 points after 31 rounds.

The disadvantage for Arsenal is that they have a more challenging fixture than Liverpool and Man City for the rest of the season. They will have to clash against big rivals, such as Aston Villa, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United.

2. Liverpool (71 points)

This season will be Jurgen Klopp’s „last dance” with Liverpool. The veteran German coach will leave the city team after nearly a decade at the helm.

Winning the Premier League title would certainly be an exquisite ending for both Liverpool and Klopp.

However, the unfortunate draw at Old Trafford last weekend caused Liverpool to lose first place to Arsenal. Currently, „The Kop” has the same 71 points as Arsenal after 31 matches but their goal difference is only +42, less than Arsenal’s (+51).

Liverpool has a more „comfortable” fixture than Arsenal in the last 7 games of this season in the Premier League. Their biggest rivals are Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Jurgen Klopp and his players need to make the most of this opportunity to breakthrough in the rest of the season. There is hope for Liverpool, their key players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker are expected to return in upcoming matches.

„The Citizens” have the right to dream about the championship. They are considered to have facilier fixtures in comparison with Arsenal and Liverpool.

In the last 7 matches of the season, Manchester City mostly only have to meet teams in the lower half of the rankings. Their toughest opponent will be Tottenham, the club which always causes many difficulties for Pep Guardiola’s team.

However, Manchester City showed how scary they are when Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland returned. In addition, Phil Foden and Rodri are overperforming this season, making „The Citizens” more destructive than ever.

Man City just needs to win the remaining games and wait for the two teams ranked above to encounter unfavorable results. This is a feasible task for Pep Guardiola and his players.
