The 9th Budapest International Documentary Film Festival will come to Debrecen with 7 films from the 20th to the 22nd of January.
In 2023, audiences will be able to watch films recognized with prestigious international awards in 10 major cities across the country. In Debrecen, the best of international documentaries will move to the Apolló Cinema for a weekend.

The Budapest International Documentary Film Festival (BIDF) organizes for the 9th time the prestigious and audience-friendly international film event of Hungarian cultural life.
At nearly 200 screenings in 10 cities, the creators of 60 prestigious films competing in 7 categories to tell the world that:
Be responsible! – Be brave! – Be honest! – Be free! – Be happy!
The invited creators of the competition films and their 100 Civilian Ambassadors await the audience across the country in 5 additional competition categories. You only can see the multiple award-winning films that combine reality with art at the BIDF.
30 international jury members will decide which of the Oscar-nominated, European award-winning films awarded at Venice, Berlinale, and Sundance Film Festivals will be winning works of BIDF.
The topics offered by the films are exciting and current, such as the Russian-Ukrainian war, COVID, and Isis.
The films are not recommended for people under sixteen and are shown with original dubbing with English and Hungarian subtitles.
