Summary of the international QS, RUR and THE lists during the last semester.
Quacquarelli Symonds
The University of Debrecen (UD) has been ranked in the 651-700 range, which means it is among the best 46% of the ranked universities. It is still the 2nd among Hungarian universities. It occupies 40th place in the list evaluating universities in the Eastern European and Central Asian regions.
It has performed well in the category of international student index, which is reflected in the 161st place.
UD maintained its position in the 401-450 range of the life sciences and medical sciences rankings and is ranked in the 451-500 range for natural sciences. According to the 2022 rankings, UD continues to be the best Hungarian university in the area of agricultural sciences (201-250.), maintained its position in the 351-400 range for medical sciences, and tops the list of Hungarian universities with its position in the 401-450 range in the subject area of biology. UD has improved 100 places and is in the 451-500 range now in the fields of physics and astronomy, while the math programmers of the university, which have made it to the QS rankings for the first time, finished in the 501-520 range.
QS placed UD into the 301-500 band in Graduate Employability Rankings list, the purpose of which is to compare universities around the world based on employment indicators.
According to the 2023 ranking, the best universities are Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, US), the University of Cambridge (UK) and Stanford University (US).

Round University Ranking
In the critical teaching area, the University of Debrecen is placed 201st in the list published by RUR for 2022.
Among the key areas, the international diversity indicators have improved yearly, promoting UD from the 390th place last year to the 369th place this year.
As for financial sustainability, UD turned out to be the best among Hungarian universities with the 575th place.
The 2022 RUR list is headed by three universities from the United States of America: California Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Times Higher Education
UD has been ranked between 801-1,000 out of the 1,662 universities from all around the globe involved in the assessment, and finished 3rd among Hungarian universities.
UD has been ranked 201-300 in the categories Partnership for Goals and Decent Work and Economic Growth, which is the best score among Hungarian universities. In the former category, it has managed to retain its position achieved last year as the best Hungarian institution, while in the latter, it has been listed for the first time.
Its position is similar (201-300) in the categories Sustainable cities and communities and Life below water, while in the category Good health and wellbeing, it is ranked 401-600. It is ranked 301-400 in the category Quality education.
It has improved four places compared to last year’s result, obtained the 191st place in the category of Emerging Economies.
The 2022 overall rankings of THE is led by Western Sydney University (Australia). The second place goes to Arizona State University (Tempe, USA). The third place goes to Western University (Canada).
