In addition to Jason Derulo, the American electropop duo The Chainsmokers, the English star singer John Newman, who brilliantly combines elements of funk, soul and modern pop, the alternative rock legend The Dandy Warhols and the New York metal scene band Life Of Agony, six other international productions will strengthen the list of performers at the Campus Festival2025.

The Campus Festival is one of the largest tourist events in Debrecen, and one of the biggest pop music and cultural events in Hungary. After ten months of organization and two weeks of construction, the 2025 festival will open its doors on the 16th of July. The organizers are expecting tens of thousands of festivalgoers to attend the event, which has been unwaveringly popular for 17 years and will take place in more than 21 locations, and the preliminary interest is outstanding. Campus is the music festival featuring the most Hungarian performers. Over 250 performers are expected over four days. The estimated number of cultural programs until Sunday evening is approaching a thousand.

The main performers are Halott Pénz and Bagossy Brothers Company, ByeAlex and the Slepp, Majka, Desh, Dzsúdló and Tankcsapda will return, and Ganxsta Zolee és a Kartel, celebrating its 30th anniversary, will also take the stage in their original lineup.

In addition to local festival favorites, Campus continues to support Debrecen-based productions, offering a nearly full spectrum of the Hungarian music scene without genre restrictions, and featuring rarely seen artists. Palya Bea; Krisztián Szűcs (HS7), who will be performing “Krézi Srác 25”, a concert building on his career; the legendary Leukemia, formed in 1986; Zuboly, a blend of hip hop and folk music; and the 30-year-old Hollywoodoo, a concert that will be an extraordinary event in the history of Hungarian music.

The electronic music lineup features over 100 DJs and producers, from mainstream to underground.

The number of people working on the preparations for this year’s Campus has reached one thousand, and during the festival this number will reach nearly three thousand, including four hundred people responsible for public safety. In the event of a health problem, accident or illness, the festival has a 24-hour medical and ambulance service, with trained professionals working in an air-conditioned, professional medical base.

Without music

The Campus Festival has an outstanding number of other activities besides music. The entire festival area will be bustling with life all day long, with plenty of dance, performance and theatre, stuntmen, artists and aerialists, pub sports, wall climbing and virtual experiences with VR devices.

During the day, festivalgoers can enjoy exciting, experience-rich, active recreation, while at night, magical light installations, beautiful colors and shapes will brighten up the Debrecen night.

The Civic Village is always the most colorful zone of the festival. The Campus Kid’s activities will allow visitors of all ages to experience the joy of play. From the most innovative board games to bouncy castles, beauty parlors, from a funfair to a juggling workshop, from a baby-mama room to simulators, the possibilities for families are endless at the new Playhouse Project venue. The Campus Art points will offer a world of crafts and creativity.

Street theatre attractions and evening parades will include the first-ever performances of the Puppet Theatre’s giant spherical nightmares and the Super Led Show’s illuminated artists, INspiral Circus Centre’s artists in the air and on the Cyr wheel, as well as Mirrorman Hungary’s mirrormen, Claudia’s Angels’ aerial gymnasts and Ars Sol Luna’s giant illuminated frog Uncle Toad.

A new feature is the Fun Zone, a multi-station obstacle course located in the festival entrance zone, where participants are welcomed with different games in each section.

Job Street has also been one of the most popular locations for years, where you can make connections with the most serious companies in the region, and here anyone can personally find out which one is the right job for them.

The H2O club located on the ground floor of the Water Tower will be hosting theater performances, contemporary literary programs, and performing arts activities. If someone wants to sit in silence and watch a performance, Kultpince is the best choice.

Egyetem tér – HEALTH AT THE FOCUS

The University of Debrecen would like to show as much as possible of the diversity that the institution represents at this year’s Campus Festival. This summer, the Centre for Sports Diagnostics, Lifestyle and Therapy, or SET Centre, will be a new venue for the university’s programs. The state-of-the-art facility will focus on health, with screenings and consultations offered by the University and the Clinical Centre, the Department of Family Medicine and Occupational Health, the Emergency Clinic, the Eye Clinic, the Medical Imaging Clinic and the Biomechanics Laboratory.

The university faculties and the various organizational associations will be presented in 12 chalets set up near the Nagyerdei Stadium. Every day from 3 pm, there will be a program of activities for visitors to try out in the laboratory, such as a quick test to determine their blood group or the use of a vein scanner on pre-prepared blood smears. Those who feel like it can conduct cooling experiments with dry ice, mix a customized moisturizing hand cream or make a DNA cocktail.

Visitors of Egyetem Tér can also sign a festival marriage contract, learn about self-driving cars in a model car, take a book selfie, try out mimic recognition software.

On the Unipass Stage set up on Egyetem Tér, the university’s top sports students will introduce themselves in exciting Hungarian-language discussions in the afternoons, with the involvement of university experts, there will be Hungarian discussions on healthy lifestyles, the bitcoin revolution, the criminal law assessment of animal cruelty, and what the behavior of cows says.

In the evening, they will be able to hear bands such as Bálint Gájer, the Palya Bea – Lisztes Jenő duo, Nikoletta Szőke, Miklós H. Vecsei and QJÚB, Ádám Beretka, Soma Nóvé and Sándor Csoóri Jr., Tamás Molnár, Zian Jazz Planet feat. Dorottya Jéger, PG Group, Street Sixteen and the Debrecen Citadel Orchestra. Thirsty festivalgoers on Egyetem tér will be welcomed at the Caribbean bar for a delicious MÉK syrup or a wine with soda water from Mád.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

The Campus Festival, in addition to the University of Debrecen and the city of Debrecen, enjoys special trust and support among local companies and businesses.

The main sponsor of the event for four years is Metal-Sheet Kft., founded in Debrecen. Among the multinational companies that are based here, the BMW Group Factory Debrecen is the main partner of the festival, CATL Debrecen, Krones Hungary Kft, Semcorp Hungary Kft, Richter Gedeon Nyrt, EVE Power, a subsidiary of EVE Energy, DP World Logistics Hungary Kft, Harro Höfliger Hungary, Schaeffler Debrecen Kft.

Among the Campus sponsors are also traditional Hungarian companies, Szentkirályi Magyarország Kft. and Nádudvari Élelmiszer Kft., a 100% Hungarian-owned company located near the Hortobágy National Park, have been important partners of the festival for years.

The festival’s bank is MBH Bank Nyrt. Hungary’s second largest banking group has arrived as a new financial partner, and festivalgoers will be the first to see ticket offices matching MBH’s image at the main entrance, as well as the MBH Bank Rock Arena, the namesake of the festival, with its unique style.

The Nemzeti Kultúrális Alap, the Petőfi Kulturális Ügynökség and the Hangfoglaló Program are supporting the festival with a variety of cultural programs.

The uniqueness of the program venues is also well emphasized by the namesakes. The University of Debrecen Stage, the Unicum Bar, the MOL Mercarius Garden, the Jim Beam Bar and the KOCSI.HU Stage will offer a diverse and exciting program of events.

The diversity is also reflected in the wide selection of drinks available at the festival. Everything is provided for a good festival atmosphere, including Zwack, Jim Beam, Soproni, Törley, Pepsi and Guarana energy drink products.

The Power of the Community

Benjamin Micskó is five years old and suffers from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare, rapid, currently incurable genetic disease that can lead to complete immobility and severe breathing problems within a few years.

Beni’s only chance is gene therapy, which can only be used at an early age, before the disease progresses. The cost of the treatment exceeds 1.3 billion HUF, of which 300,000,000 HUF is still missing.

The opening reception of 2024 raised HUF 12,500,000, all of which was donated by the organizers to the Beni Cure Foundation.

The proceeds from this year’s opening reception will also go to support the little boy’s life-saving treatment.

We TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER

At the Campus Festival, it’s important that you look out for each other: your friends, family and fellow festivalgoers. Together, we can prevent as many problems as possible – but if something does happen, it’s important to know that there’s always someone to turn to.

MEDICAL AND AMBULANCE SERVICES

In case of a health problem, accident or sickness, there is a 24-hour medical and emergency service on the festival site, marked on the festival map with the yellow number 11 and the familiar Red Cross sign. The air-conditioned, professional medical base is staffed by trained professionals to deal with cases requiring care.

Intervener project

The Intervener project aims to make nightlife safe for everyone. Harassment is never acceptable, and intervention, a supportive presence and community ownership are important in reducing harassment. If you are experiencing aggression, exclusion, toxic behavior or a disturbing and upsetting incident at the festival, report it to a nearby organizer or staff member, our colleagues in the field are trained in what to do in such cases. The Intervention Point will be next to the Health Base, where our colleagues will be waiting for you with psychological and mental health support, but you can also just relax in the company of our volunteers in a calming environment if you need it.

TAKE ACTION FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR NEIGHBORS

Festival-going is the experience of a lifetime – let’s work together to make sure nothing spoils your experience. It’s worth arriving early and it’s important to familiarize yourself with the festival area and the main transport routes so that you can find your way around in case of problems. It is essential to drink plenty of fluids regularly, and you will find drinking water in the toilets in the stadium at many points throughout the festival. A balanced diet and effective sun protection are important. It’s also worth taking a break from the party and clearing your head outdoors.

Alcohol and drugs

Although for some visitors, going to the festival involves drinking alcohol, as organizers we consider it important to draw attention to the fact that if you are consciously and in a controlled manner, you will have more meaningful and longer fun and experience – and the next day will not be so bad either. In Hungary, the consumption and possession of drugs is punishable by law – this rule also applies to the festival area. If you feel that you or someone in your environment has taken partying and legal mind-altering too far, you can relax under the supervision of professionals in the harm reduction room operated by the Lelkierő Association at the Health Base before heading home.

Who comes?

Jason Derulo | Metal-Sheet Main Stage, Saturday, 11:10 pm

The 35-year-old world star will return to Hungary after a three-year hiatus, making his first appearance in Debrecen. He has been writing songs since the age of 16 and has worked under the tutelage of A-list artists since the beginning of his career. In recent years, he has conquered TikTok and become a trendsetter in social media, in addition to streaming platforms. He has also produced more than ten music videos with over 200 million views, two of which have crossed the one billion marks. His latest song is Snake, co-written by Nora Fatehi, whose music video has become an internet favorite.

The Chainsmokers | Metal-Sheet Main Stage, Friday, 11:10 pm

The American DJ duo, who have been around for thirteen years, have been a big favorite with EDM fans since the release of their song #Selfie, and their songs with Halsey and Coldplay have been chart-toppers around the world. This year, for the first time, they will dance the festivalgoers in Eastern Hungary. The guys will come straight from Canada to the Great Forest and will show remixes for artists such as Steve Aoki, Bon Iver, Justive and Tame Impala or Gracie Abrams.

John Newman | Metal-Sheet Main Stage, Thursday, 9:45 pm

The English singer has played many gigs in Hungary, but he hasn’t played in our region yet. His songs are a mix of funk, soul and modern pop, his lyrics are emotional, and his delivery is powerful. She has overcome two serious illnesses and is going full steam ahead.

The Dandy Warhols | CATL Lighthouse Stage, Friday, 8:30 pm

Last year the psychedelic alternative rock legends celebrated their 30th anniversary with a new album, and this year they’re taking the new songs on a world tour, as well as giving a comprehensive look at the last three decades of output. The concert in Debrecen will be the band’s first in Hungary, making rock history in the Great Forest.

Life of Agony | MBH Bank Rock Arena, Friday, 9:30 pm

The New York-based alternative metal outfit came to international attention with their hardcore-influenced groove/thrash/doom debut River Runs Red in 1993, but despite their huge success they have remained restrained in releasing albums, with only five more following their bombastic debut. Their first concert in Eastern Hungary will be an unmissable event for metal and hardcore fans.

Flux Pavilion | Pepsi Music Hall, Saturday, 2:00 am

The English wonder DJ / EDM-bass music producer’s main inspiration is The Prodigy, so you can already have an idea of his musical world for those who have not heard his work. This year, he’s squeezed in a few European shows, including the big one in the big Eden, between two North American tours.

(The show is at 2am on Sunday but is part of the festival’s Saturday program.)

Nils Hoffmann | Pepsi Music Hall, Friday, 11:30 pm

One of the most exciting figures on the Berlin electronic scene takes listeners on a journey into the world of melancholic house. His first performance in Hungary was at the A38 Ship in Budapest in 2024, so it’s a special pleasure to have an artist we haven’t really seen before.

JC Stewart | Metal-Sheet Big Stage, Friday, 5:00 pm

John, in his twenties, has released several great songs, but his breakthrough success and recognition is thanks to Jennifer Aniston, who in 2020 shared a video of John parodying the theme song from the Friends series. From then on, it was non-stop, and JC Stewart quickly became a crowd favorite. Since then, he’s been asked to collaborate with the likes of Armin Van Buuren. The songs from his debut album will be very fresh on Campus, as they will only be available for a few weeks.

!DelaDap | KOCSI.HU Stage, Friday, 12:25 am

The Viennese band led by Stani Vana turned 20 last year. The seven-piece group, which cultivates Roma culture, built its musical world on Balkan influences in the early years, but has recently moved towards EDM, while still retaining the authenticity of gypsy music.

(The show is Saturday at 12:25 am but is part of the festival’s Friday program.)

Amilost | CATL Lighthouse Stage, Thursday, 8:30 pm

The Norwegian Scottish duo’s melancholic but beautiful Nordic-influenced songs focus on break-ups, loneliness, and painfully universal and universal thoughts. The Scandinavian vibe, the nodding, the introspection is guaranteed at this concert, which will be the first Hungarian appearance of the band discovered at the 2025 Eurosonic Festival.

Shakalab | KOCSI.HU Stage, Wednesday, 11:15 pm

The four veteran singers from Sicily got together to create something together, and it became so popular that they have been playing together ever since. The foursome has already been to Debrecen two years ago, when they took us to the Ifiház for a taste of life, and now they will do the same in the Great Forest.
