Two people were taken to hospital on the 11th of February, Friday.
According to a press release from the University of Debrecen, a chemical agent was released into the air during the opening of a storage unit in a laboratory of the Chemistry Building of the Faculty of Science and Technology, which was inhaled by a chemist technician and a lecturer supervising his or her work.
The casualties were taken to the Emergency Clinic of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen. Both suffered minor injuries.
In addition to the mobile laboratory unit of the Disaster Management, professional firefighters from Debrecen marched to the site. They took measurements in one of the labs and visited the scene. Firefighters evacuated the building for the time of the intervention. 3 hundred students and instructors returned an hour later.
Due to the case, the Labor Inspectorate and the Faculty of Science and Technology launched an investigation.

The Chemistry Building is located on the University Square campus, near the Main Building. It has a floor area of 17 thousand square meters.
