Photographer Attila Szilágyi and Lajos Buzás, president of BAGE, are the protagonists of this year’s portrait films.
The Kulturális Filmek Fesztiválja (in English: Festival of Cultural Films) is organized for the ninth time. The purpose of the competition films is to help people understand that local Hungarian culture is significant, including preserving traditions, landscape values , and cultural traditions.
Alföld Televízíó also takes its part in this noble task, as it has already been nominated several times with portrait films. In 2022, the short film A Puszta varázsa, A csikós apáról fiúra won the Audience Award. This year, Alföld Televízió also started two portrait films. It is IMPORTANT that the number of views of the videos uploaded to the YouTube channel of the Kulturális Filmek Fesztiválja decides which films can enter the finals, so every click helps! Voting closes on the 30th of July.
Attila Szilágyi, who lives and works in the Hortobágy National Park, is the protagonist of the film “Lencsevégről“. He has been interested in the world of birds and nature conservation since childhood. His hobby is photography, which he now does at a professional level. He presents the natural values of the Hungarian landscape and the national park with his photos.
His dedication to nature conservation and his work are crucial for the preservation of the Hungarian landscape and the wilderness. With his pictures, he promotes the Hungarian natural values typical of the desert landscape, the world of birds, animals, and plants around the Hortobágy National Park, which was awarded the title of World Heritage Site for the preservation of the cultural landscape, the landscape, where – as the world heritage site emblem symbolizes – cultural and natural values are connected.

The portrait film “Zacisok” is in a separate category, which does not necessarily draw attention to the local Hungarian culture, but to a person whose profession is child-welfare.
Lajos Buzás, the president of the well-known Bihari Állami Gondozottak Egyesülete (in English: Bihari Association of State Tendeds), grew up in the children’s town in Berettyóújfalu since he was a baby, and as a result – accepting where he came from – he created his own association 14 years ago to help his peers, the children living in state care. The aim of the film is to draw attention to these children and adults through the life story of Lajos.
