Everybody knows the pre-Christmas day of commercial carnage. The day of Black Friday always falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving in the USA, which is the 27th of November this year. This is the most significant marketing event of the year. However, the situation is a little bit different in Hungary.
The whole of November can be a big Black Friday in Hungary. The main reason is that we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving and the phenomenon of Black Friday is relatively new in Europe. The first time when the term Black Friday used in Hungary was the year 2014. This day traditionally marks the start of the shopping for Christmas, and Hungary doesn’t have another holiday in November, like Thanksgiving. So, it is all right to start Black Friday earlier than in the USA.
Between the 27th and 29th of November, there is the Black Price Day in Forum Debrecen Shopping Center. You can refresh your winter clothing, or get presents for your beloved ones in. There will be huge sales, even 70% of discounts in the stores, like Budmil Store. During these three days, we can get clothes, beauty or electrical products as well.

To buy or not to buy? There is an opposing movement called Buy Nothing Day. Since 1997, it has been held on the same day as Black Friday, in a pointed response to advertisers’ efforts encouraging consumers to spend more. Now, there are associated campaigns in dozens of countries across the world.
Why is it black? The term means that retailers come from red (loss-making) to black (profit-making). Accountants used to sign these two factors with these two colors in accounting. Black Friday takes 20% of the annual income of the USA and similarly in Hungary.

The meaning of Black Friday was the heavy traffic initially in Philadelphia in 1965. In the beginning, the day after Thanksgiving, American citizens got a day off, so this day became a public holiday, and soon enough, the media started to associate this with shopping fever.
Hungarians prefer online purchases 80-90% of the residents buy online, even if they have to wait several days for the delivery. The term Black Friday was searched by the most Hungarian in 2017.
If you want to buy gifts for your beloved one, do it on Black Friday when everything is cheaper.
