Last night, Liverpool created one of the most unbelievable victories in the Champions League round of 16 when they defeated PSG 1-0 right at the Parc des Princes.
The match PSG vs Liverpool is the highlight of the second matchday, round of 16 of the 2024/25 Champions League. Both teams are leading the table of their national championship and have full squad for the night.
Throughout the match, the home team PSG dominated the draw. They had 27 shots on Liverpool’s goal, including 1 disallowed goal of Kvaratskhelia due to off-side.

On the other side, Liverpool accepted to let their opponents control the ball more. Arne Slot’s team intended to play defensively and wait for their opponents to make a mistake to counterattack.
Throughout the match, Liverpool only had 2 shots on Donnarumma’s goal, only 1 of which was on target. Ironically, that only shot brought victory to „The Reds”.
In the 86th minute, Harvey Elliot came on to replace Salah – who made no impact throughout the match.
Just 1 minute later, the 21-year-old youngster curled the ball into the net of PSG in a comfortable position. The player who passed the ball to Elliot, also a substitute one, was Darwin Nunez. The match ended with Liverpool winning 1-0 away, giving them a huge advantage for the second leg.

In addition, it is impossible not to mention the contributions of Alisson Becker, the best player on Liverpool’s side last night. The Brazilian goalkeeper made 9 clear saves, receiving up to 9.4 points from Sofascore after the match.
Statistics show that PSG’s expected goals (xG) index reached 1.30 in the first half alone, but the Brazilian goalkeeper’s excellence made all the home team’s efforts in vain.

In other matches, all triumphs are for the bigger teams. Barcelona won 1-0 against Benfica in a 10 vs 11 tie, following Pau Cubarsi’s red card in the 22nd minute. Bayern Munich and Inter Milan both had comfortable 3-0 and 2-0 wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Feyenoord respectively.
