In autumn, the Fórum Fashion magazine, the publication of the Fórum Shopping Center, underwent a very craggy style change. And after the autumn issue, which appeared in the spirit of diversity, equality, and limitless self-expression, the editors set the bar high again.
With a series star on the cover and a fusion of elegance and a retro feeling of life in the magazine’s columns, readers are welcomed to the fashion stage.

Csilla Török-Papp, director of the media division of Alföld Televízió, responsible editor of Fórum Fashion Magazine, gave us an interview again. The talk reveals that this complex and creative work does not end with a deadline. The brainstorming for the next issue already begins on the day of publication.
- Fórum Fashion Magazine has published a new issue, on the cover of which is the former star of Barátok Közt, Edina Som-Balogh. Why was she chosen to be the face of the spring issue?
During the design of each magazine, serious brainstorming precedes the decision. It is increasingly difficult to find a model worthy of the standards of Fórum Fashion Magazine or an influencer, celebrity, or well-known person who looks like a model because it is significant for us that our cover model should have something extra, in addition to being “spectacular” and photogenic.

Something that represents a certain kind of value.
Edina was a hit in every way. Earlier, I was lucky enough to observe him at work on a set, and then, I decided that we would work together one day. I saw the humility with which she approached the task, which is exemplary in today’s world. The fact that she is beautiful and will look great in the magazine was not in question for my team either. We voted for Edina in agreement, and the published magazine justifies us.

- Although the cover reminds the reader of Grace Kelly’s style, the bright colors almost jump off the paper when you turn the pages. How difficult was it for editors to balance this duality this spring between classic elegance and retro atmosphere, restrained and loud garments?
The professionalism of my fashion editors is praised by the fact that every season they manage to select the most popular pieces from stores of Forum and show them in a tasteful and, at the same time voguish, authentic, or surprising environment. In this magazine, you can see all aspects of current fashion. Fortunately, Edina’s style was best suited to the classic, natural color scheme, and according to her statement, she was able to remain self-identical with this style. The dynamism of the retro feeling will really jump off the pages. Let the readers decide whether we have found the balance!

- No one was left out of this issue. Regardless of age or gender, anyone can find something to their liking in it to update their spring wardrobe. Is this a coincidence or part of a deliberate strategy to make readers feel that fashion is for everyone?
Nothing is accidental. Long research work and many visits to stores precede the result you see. What the customers see in the stores in the given season is already decided during the previous year because the spring collections are “produced” much earlier, so anyone who works in this profession knows in advance what to expect on the shelves of the stores. So, there is time to prepare what to show, but I can tell you that
in many cases, the chosen item of clothing is not yet in the store at the time of the photo shoot, so we cannot display the price at that time either. The products will be on the shelves, and you can buy them when the magazine will be published.
We really try to select clothes, products, and in my case, books in such a way that we can reach a wide range of customers. It proves strategic planning. The main aspect is the presence of diversity from issue to issue.
- As you mentioned, long brainstorming preceded the realization of the fashion materials. When does the team start editing the pages, and how much work does the reader have to imagine behind each image before they have the perfect fashion photo?
Perhaps the fact that we live and think from magazine to magazine covers reality the most. I think I can safely say on behalf of my fashion editors that there is no stopping.
We are constantly watching and getting inspired. Since the same team manages the Forum’s Social Media interfaces, following fashion and creating photography and video materials is part of the daily work. Anyone who sees an extraordinary photo, interior, or idea anywhere, immediately shares it with others so that when we sit down to design the current magazine, we can be spoiled for ideas.
Many kinds of photos are taken in such a magazine, and we also compose them in advance every time. We also monitor trends and photographers to see who can realize our vision in the most professional way because it also matters whether we have to photograph food or three hyperactive children. This job is infinitely versatile. To the person flipping through the magazine, this is not even perceptible, only whether he or she likes what he or she sees or not. We always want to satisfy our readers, and we trust that we will succeed.
- Interviews, book reviews, recipes, and gadget suggestions for comfort: not only fashion but also culture and popular everyday activities are featured in the magazine. Why are these important in the columns of a fashion magazine?
The magazine is as versatile as the Forum Shopping Center. Many events, exhibitions, and other programs that do not necessarily encourage shopping take place in the Forum, which is an integral part of city life, even promoting culture. We try not only to show fashion in the magazine. I think it is significant to provide such a high-quality magazine with appropriate content. It matters that the few lines on the fashion page, the way we present the products, convey what they say, I think we’ve improved a lot in this too, and we’re raising it to a high level, thanks to you, fellow journalists, who participate in the implementation. Book reviews are my passion. I believe that promoting reading is not swimming against the tide and reading can be trendy, and this year I even sneaked the importance of self-knowledge into the magazine. Moving away from all clothes and shoes raises the standard of the magazine.
- The next issue of Fórum Fashion Magazine is expected in autumn. Are there already public ideas for that issue? Either in terms of the topic of the fashion materials or the location of the photo shoots?
One thing is sure: the Forum is 15 years old this year, so this will be a big focus in the next magazine.
