Already at this year’s European Universities Games (EUG) in Poland, the two organizers of the next event will appear: The University of Debrecen and the University of Miskolc. The representatives of the institutions discussed the tasks related to the organization at the University of Debrecen (UD).
The Operational Organizing Committee of the EUG met at the UD last week. As we wrote earlier, the University of Debrecen and the University of Miskolc will jointly organize the EUG 2024, which are like the Olympics.
Six agenda items were discussed at the committee meeting:
- The organization entered a new phase
- The protocol programs
- Project management tasks
- Utilization of previous organizational experience
- Image ideas
- Unified appearance of the universities and the Hungarian University Sports Federation
We would organize an event that is worthy of the traditions and successes of Hungarian sports so we can organize one of the most important sports events in the country’s history in 2024. But until then, there are still tasks, for example organization details, a thorough budget must be prepared, because all of this determines the effectiveness of the organizational work
Péter Juhász, the secretary general of the Hungarian University Sports Federation, emphasized.
We are moving according to the schedule. The master plan containing the distributed tasks and responsibilities must be prepared by the end of November. Considering the size and significance of the event, it requires enormous organizational work and coordination on the part of the two universities and the Hungarian University Sports Federation
said Katalin Varga, physical education and leisure sports coordinator of the Sports Science Coordination Institute of the University of Debrecen, member of the Operational Organizing Committee.
The organizers want to show the best image of themselves and the locations. According to the representatives of Miskolc, it is significant that the two universities impress in European University Sports Association’s (EUSA) favor.
The background work related to the event is crucial, because in addition to the organization and informative content, delegations from international associations must be adequately received and hosted. The cooperation between EUSA and Hungarian University Sports Federation can also be emphasized in several cases
said Tamás Kása, head of the working group from Miskolc of the operative committee.
At the committee meeting, the representatives passed upon the person of the project manager: until the 31st of December, László Végh, the policy officer of the Hungarian University Sports Federation, will manage the organizational tasks. The delegation of the international association will arrive in Debrecen to view the future locations and learn about the logistic work of the organizing universities this November.
