The Debrecen Charitable Body helps three seriously ill young people with a large amount of money from the income of the international gastronomic event organized at the Zamat Festival, by the offering of the Debrecen Campus Nonprofit Public Benefit Ltd.
The Taste the World side event was held for the first time at the anniversary (10th) Zamat Festival this year. At Taste the World, thanks to international students studying at the University of Debrecen, visitors could taste 60 foods from 20 nations for 500 Forint per dish. The 2 400 000 Forint that the organizers offered to three families was made up of this.
Sayed-Ahmad Mohamed, Vice President of the Student Self-Government at the University of Debrecen, organizer of the Taste the World, was happy to organize this side event at the Zamat Festival. From the very first moment, this income was intended for a charitable purpose with which they would like to set an example for foreign and Hungarian students studying at the university. Sayed-Ahmad Mohamed said that they are continuing to cooperate with Campus Ltd. in the future.
On the 24th of November 2021, at the handover of the support, Péter Miklósvölgyi, the managing director of the Debrecen Campus Nonprofit Public Benefit Ltd., said that they considered it important that their events not only be an experience for the participants and not only be successful for the company but also help others.
Diána Széles, Vice Mayor of Debrecen, co-chair of the Debrecen Charitable Body, emphasized that the community must stand behind those who find themselves in a difficult life situation. Thanks to Campus Ltd., the Debrecen Charitable Body can contribute to the support of families in a life situation that cannot be solved alone. Together with the offeror, it was decided that, in the name of the upcoming Advent season, three families will be given support who are raising a sick child and will not be able to bear the extra costs alone.
Giving help this way fits into the idealism of the Caring City of Debrecen, indicating that the support does not only cover the socially underprivileged, but also families, which will hopefully only temporarily in a difficult situation.
