Many women suffer from a lack of basic hygiene items due to their disadvantaged living conditions. The Medical Students’ Association of Debrecen, the Kálmán Sántha College for Advanced Studies, and the Debrecen Regional Organization of the Hungarian Red Cross have joined forces and launched a collection to help them. The donations will be given to disadvantaged and cumulatively disadvantaged women.
For many, it is natural that basic hygiene and intimate products are on the shelf. For others, it is an unattainable luxury. We can change this together! On Women’s Day, we ask you to donate intimate products to your fellow women struggling with difficult living conditions. Let’s work together for their health and dignity!
with these words, the Debrecen Medical Students’ Association, the Sántha Kálmán College, and the Debrecen Regional Organization of the Hungarian Red Cross launched the collection.
Intimate pads (all types), intimate wipes, wet wipes, deodorants, and toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, tampons, toilet paper) are being collected by the volunteers and staff of the organizers at the locations listed below at the University of Debrecen and at the office of the Debrecen Regional Organization of the Hungarian Red Cross until the end of March. The collected donations will be handed over to disadvantaged and cumulatively disadvantaged women in April.
The lack of the most basic hygiene and intimate needs can lead to serious health problems and affect almost every dimension of the lives of those affected; they can hinder their self-assertion and employment. With the campaign ‘Together for Women’ launched on Women’s Day, the organizers aim to assist women struggling with financial difficulties, partly with social and partly with health-promoting goals. In addition, they intend to organize a joint movement with university students and people living in Debrecen and the county to help others.
Any university student or helpful person living in Debrecen and the county can hand over donations at the following locations and times:
1. At the University of Debrecen
- Wednesdays at the DOE office during reception hours, between 4 pm and 6 pm
- Tuesdays (on the 11th, 18th and 25th of March) from 12 pm to 4 pm – Life Sciences Center, Debrecen, Egyetem tér 1.
2. At the office of the Hungarian Red Cross Debrecen Regional Organization
(4025 Debrecen, Simonffy utca 44.) – From Monday to Thursday between 8 am and 4 pm.
