The latest, seventeenth studio album of the Australian rock band called Power Up will be released on the 13th of November, which will contain twelve new tracks. Scroll down for the tracklist.
There will be various configurations like digital, CD, casette, vinyl, silver vinyl and picture vinyl (already sold out). What is more, you can preorder a deluxe edition and a wide variety of bundles. Furthermore, you can express your devotion with T-shirts, hoodies, longsleeves, sweatshirts, army jackets, baseball caps, bluetooth speakers, keyrings, mugs and shot glasses too. But the most creative product is definitely the Power Up Power Bank.
The band shared a short clip composed of behind-the-scenes footage featuring brief appearances by all five members of the band on the 5th of October. Two days later, the first single from Power Up, Shot In The Dark was released. The band also marked the Power Up announcement by projecting imagery on such landmarks as St Paul’s Cathedral and Battersea Power Station. A music video, directed by David Mallet, premiered on AC/DC’s YouTube channel on the 26th of October. In this three minute long clip, we can see the members of the 47-year-old band and Angus’ iconic guitar moves again.
Power Up is the first album to feature the band’s best known lineup since 2008’s Black Ice because it marks the return of vocalist Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams. Stevie Young will take over the rhythm guitar duties for his uncle, co-founding band member Malcolm Young. For Power Up, the band reunited with producer Brendan O’Brien who helmed the gold with the previous and the shortest studio album of the band, Rock Or Bust in 2014. AC/DC recorded Power Up in the winter of 2018-19 in Vancouver.
This will also be the band’s first album since the death of their original rythm guitarist. Malcolm Young passed away in 2017 after a lengthy battle with dementia. The album is dedicated to his memory. “He would’ve been proud of this,” said singer Brian Johnson, pointing at a copy of the album. Each song is credited to Angus and his sibling and longtime songwriting partner Malcolm Young, using material they had worked on previously.
AC/DC was formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Two years later they released their first album, High Voltage. In 1991, during the Monsters of Rock annual hard rock and heavy metal music festival they visited Hungary. That world tour featured Metallica, Mötley Crüe and Queensrÿche too. In 2014, Malcolm Young retired due to early-onset dementia. In 2016, Brian Johnson left the band due to hearing loss and was replaced by Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose. The same year, Cliff Williams retired. Phil Rudd departed AC/DC in 2015 following legal issues, which included charges for attempting to arrange a murder in New Zealand.
