The government will maintain the restrictions until the 8th of April. Until then, the rules remain unchanged. As soon as the 2.5 millionth vaccine is inoculated in Hungary, stores can open, but only one customer per 10 square meters can enter, and the curfew will start later. According to the government, this is possible in the weeks after Easter.
If the 2.5 millionth vaccination is given before the 8th of April, the mitigations will take effect. If not, portfolio.hu expects the government will extend the restrictions beyond the 8th of April again.
Viktor Orbán, prime minister, said on Friday: 1,200 fifth- and sixth-year medical students will be involved in the work, and, if necessary, even health workers commuting at the border will be mobilized.
Viktor Orbán insists that there can only be open if everyone over the age of 65 is vaccinated. “A country is worth as much as how it treats this age group,” he said in an interview.
Pregnant mothers are also vaccinated, so the prime minister has asked them to register. They can get a Pfizer or Moderna type vaccine.
The realistic school opening is the 19th of April, but there are conditions: teachers and school staff will be taken in advance in the vaccination order. Of these, 102,000 are registered, and another 82,000 are to be vaccinated. The number does not include crèches and other professionals. Their numbers have yet to be assessed.
Vaccination of teachers will begin on the 1st of April.

Viktor Orbán asked the teachers in a video to register for the vaccination as soon as possible.
“We managed to take teachers in advance in the vaccination plan. To do this, you must register by midnight on Monday. I ask them to take the vaccine so we can restart our kindergartens and schools as soon as possible.”
said the prime minister, who thinks the vaccination is going well.
The head of government has asked everyone to follow the rules because the new mutant is three times more contagious, and young people are also at risk.
“The scope of the border control tasks temporarily introduced for all Schengen internal border sections of Hungary as well as the entry restrictions to passenger traffic in Hungary will be extended until the 8th of April.”
Róbert Kiss, deputy head of the on-call center of the Operational Board, said at an online press conference on Monday.
