5 reasons why Debrecen is an international city

Debrecen strives to be international, as you can see below. It is the second biggest city in Hungary. So, it has the chance to welcome people from all around the world. Let’s see why!

1st: English-language programs

There are a lot of English-language programs almost every week, from movies in cinemas or musicals in theatres to all-day-long events like International Food Days. What is more, festivals such as Campus Festival or Flower Carnival have international performers too.

2nd: Services where employees speak English

There are services where employees are English-speaking Hungarians or expats. There is a series of articles that collect them where you can find shopping centers, yoga, governmental, beauty, health, IT, car, and cleaning services.

3rd: International Education

There are the International School of Debrecen (ISD) and German Elementary School. ISD provides 21st-century education to Hungarian and international students from 3 to 16 years-old children. The German Elementary School educates kids from the age of 6 to 10. The University of Debrecen (UD) has more than 7,200 international students.

4th: English-language Churches

There are the House Pentecostal Church of Debrecen and the Debrecen Baptist English Ministries. You can attend English-language bible studies and Sunday worships.

5th: International Airport

The Debrecen International Airport offers direct flights to London, München, Paris, Eindhoven, and Tel Aviv. There are 3-4 flights per day on average.
